Special Regulations for Severe Disability
People with a severe disability often have a significantly higher entitlement to housing benefit in Duisburg. This is due to special tax-free allowances that reduce the countable income. Depending on the degree of disability (GdB) and the presence of certain marks (such as 'H' for helplessness), significant additional amounts can be deducted from income, which noticeably increases the monthly housing benefit payment.
Allowances for Severely Disabled Persons (§ 17 WoGG)
The Housing Benefit Act provides specific allowances for persons with a degree of disability of 100 or in the case of need for care within the meaning of SGB XI. Even with a GdB of less than 100, an allowance can be granted if there is a need for home care. These allowances ensure that people with disabilities receive fair support for their housing costs in Duisburg despite their income.
